Mark I "Hero" RT Unit

Mark I "Hero" RT Unit

Tony Stark creates his first miniature Arc Reactor during his imprisonment in Afghanistan. Using parts from missiles, bombs and other Stark Industries ordinance, he crafts this smaller unit known as an RT Unit (which stands for Repulsor Technology). Capable of extreme energy output, it is used to power his Mark I suit and wreak havoc upon his captors as he makes his escape.

This is the “Hero” Mark I RT Unit used during filming. It’s a stunning piece and is constructed using brass, aluminum, acrylic, resin and copper wire. I’m sure there are some materials that I’ve missed but that’s a good start. Everything is pressed together and fits like a puzzle. The whole piece is actually a heat sink designed to take the high temperature created by the original lighting system and distribute it away from the rear block. A truly magnificent piece to see in person with tons of detail.

This piece can also be seen when Pepper Potts helps Tony Stark remove it from his chest to replace with an upgraded Mark II RT Unit, and is later seen when Tony smashes the glass case to replace his stolen RT Unit. Production noted this as the hero Mark I RT Unit used by Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow. This item measures 3″ across and 2.75″ deep.
